About Beta Beta.Mississippi
North Mississippi The Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Women Educators |
Established in 2018In 2014, the belief that Oxford, MS needed a Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG) Society International chapter was born in part because of the ideas presented to Alpha Delta membership by Reba Greer and Sandra Roy. Over the next four years (2014-2018), Alpha Delta members laid the foundation for a new chapter and nurtured that foundation with guidance from Zeta State officers. During those four planning years, Alpha Delta conducted surveys, held individual meetings, added new members, and sought out the requirements which would allow Alpha Delta Chapter to sponsor a new chapter that would eventually be called Beta Beta. As Alpha Delta grew, the idea of a new chapter grew with it. This amazing, collective journey by many to promote and create a new chapter in North Mississippi became a reality in June of 2018, with fifteen charter members. Zeta State President Linda Hollingsworth led the ceremony that culminated in the installation of Beta Beta’s first officers. Other state and international representatives at the ceremony included Zeta State Membership Chair Chris Wall, Zeta State committee member Dorie Kisner, and International Second Vice-President Becky Sadowski. The chapter gavel was dedicated to Alpha Delta’s last surviving charter member, Bettina Caldwell, and Alpha Delta’s long-serving Zeta State Treasurer, Sarah Marie Smith.
